Seattle's forecast predicts crisp days over the weekend. Thanksgiving’s promise of warm food flickers like a light, just around the corner. The Seattle Times has released their holiday event guide. My partner, grumbling-ly, agreed to watch Love Actually with me for approximately the 300th time this weekend. I baked pumpkin bread! As the holiday season approaches, hygge seems to be everywhere. I’ve written about this word before but to recap, the Danish word hygge loosely translates as coziness, comfort, and feelings of wellbeing and contentment. Perhaps you’re still seeking a home with that essential feeling of hygge. Whatever the reason you're interested in buying a new home, you might consider hitting the market now, just in time to settle in before the new year. It’s not too late to buy a home this year! For the third year in a row, Jesse D. Moore and Andy O'Shea were selected by Seattle Magazine as 5-Star Real Estate Agents, Best in Overall Satisfaction. The designation is given to less than 7% of the agents in the Puget Sound market, and even fewer have won it for 3 consecutive years in a row. In addition to this, Andy and Jesse finished the year off as the #1 and #3 agents in their office of 142 agents in 2010 (Keller Williams Realty Bothell). Andy ended up as the tops agent overall, and Jesse as the top resale listing agent overall. Pickett Street Properties was the top team for the largest office in Snohomish County, closing 80 real estate transactions in 2010, and we expect to do even greater things in 2011!Read more

The review below is written from guru of all things non-fiction: Dennis Pearce. First, let me say that I don’t read much fiction. I think life is wild, wacky, weird, and wonderful enough that I really don’t have a strong need to search out alternate worlds, or explore fantasy dimensions. This book reinforces my belief in the surreal nature of reality, while simultaneously awakening a desire to leave a more meaningful mark on our world. Opening in the mountains of Pakistan, the story begins with Greg becoming lost during his descent from a failed attempt on K2, in the Karakorams. After his resuscitation by a local tribe whose village he happened to stumble into, more dead than alive, Greg resolves to repay their kindness by building a school for their children. In spite of his own impoverished state, he returns to the US to begin gathering the funds to fulfill his promise, and is launched onto a path that eventually blossoms into a lifelong vocation. The soul of the story lies in the connections that are made between…Read more
